Cee’s Share Your World 2013: Week 19 ~

On a vacation what you would require in any place that you would stay?  (Question came from Wanderings of an Elusive Mind Good one, Carol (Wanderings of an Elusive Mind)!  Having just stayed in Pennsylvania for three  nights in a mediocre hotel, lots of things come to mind.  But there is a difference between what I would require (want) and what I really need.  I have lots of wants, but when beggars can’t be choosers, all I can say I really need is quiet.  I need silence for peace of mind and to gather my thoughts, and eventually for sleep.  (I’ll be blogging about our PA accommodations shortly, including photos!)

If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels?  I would prefer a short story or a “longer” story.  I’d be good at writing romance novels, too.  Many friends, family and people who know me say I should write an autobiography.  Perhaps, one day.

What’s your favorite song of the moment?  That would be “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath  (a Christian rock tune).  I like many, many different types of music.  It’s easier for me to say what I don’t like:  Country and Rap.

If you were to buy a new house/apartment what is the top items on your wish list?  Ooooh, you’re kidding!  That’s a tough one!  It would have to be a house, and I would need acreage.  The house, itself, yes… windows!  Preferably double-hung for easier cleaning.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Cee!  Looking forward to next week’s queries!  Until then, TTFN ~ Tamara

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Rainbow Colors ~

I’m learning so much in the process of participating in these challenges!  Who’s idea was this?

This week’s challenge with Cee is “rainbow colors” with at least four strong colors in the photo.  Here are my submissions:

Cee’s Share Your World 2013: Week 9 ~

Cee’s questions for this week are:

How do you write: computer, longhand or other?   In today’s world, I do most of my writing by computer ~ but I prefer to write longhand and do so every chance I get.  I have been told I have wonderful handwriting.  Indeed, I began “practicing” my handwriting in 6th grade, and it does tend to be impressive.  (pats self on back!)

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?  Any sport related to horseback riding.  I used to ride when I was in school, and owned horses.  They are an amazing animal, and I bonded with mine as many do with dogs and cats.  I think I’d like to ride in the Olympics, or any type of show jumping.

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?   Quilting is my current love.  Not only does it allow me to release my creativity in endless ways, but also to make others happy with my creations.  What could be better than that?

What subject was your favorite in all of your schooling? Why?  Well, my entire high school years were devoted to “business”, as I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I graduated.  All of the many classes I took in relation to my degree are my favorites ~ I cannot pick just one, as they encompassed each other.  Typing and Shorthand were my absolute favorites.  I also had courses like Accounting, Business Math, Economics, Office Procedures and others.  One other “honorable mention” I want to put out there, because I’ve seen a couple other bloggers mention it, is that I loved English ~ because I am a grammar, spelling, punctuation obesessive/compulsive.

P.S ~ After almost 35 years of being out of school, I can still take Shorthand at about 120 wpm, and type around 130 wpm.  I do have occasion to use my Shorthand, and I type verbatim business meetings on a regular basis and then transcribe them.  Now THAT’s fast!

Thanks Cee!

Cee’s Share Your World: Week 8 ~

What are Cee’s insightful questions this week?

What is your favorite day of the week?    That would have to be Monday… my day off.  I work (4) 10-hour days and have Mondays off.  What’s great about it is, if there’s a holiday that falls on a Monday, I get to have another day off.  Do you know how many holidays fall on Monday???  A LOT!

Have you ever had a reoccurring dream? What was it?   I have two recurring dreams:  one is that I can fly (although I am deathly afraid of heights).  The other is always about trucks chasing me ~ specifically 18 wheelers or cement mixers or large industrial trucks.  Terrifying!

Have you ever been drunk?  Absolutely.  Not saying I’m proud of it, but I drank a lot in high school, and then again in the late 80’s early 90’s.  I was admittedly irresponsible, and I drank specifically to get drunk.  Nowadays, a glass of wine can do me in.

Out of your five senses (touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing) which is your favorite?   This is truly a tough question.  Probably touch is my favorite.  My husband and I reconnect frequently by touch:  holding hands, kisses, touch on the face, fingers through hair, massages etc.   I guess you could say we can’t keep our hands off each other ~ but in a nice, romantic way.  It’s in this way that we stay close and communicate silently.  It’s also a way of communication with our family, our friends, even our pets.  Something very special for us.  My favorite!

Until next week, thanks Cee!  TTFN ~ Tamara Eckstadt

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Black & White or Sepia ~

Well, this week’s challenge was certainly a challenge for me!  I’ve never taken any photos in black and white, as this is all still very new to me.  I’ve spent the past few days really trying to get to know my camera, and what it can do for me… rather than just pointing it and shooting.  Here’s a few I came up with:

Stately looking building near downtown Syracuse, NY

Front entrance of a Presbyterian church, downtown Syracuse, NY

Same Presbyterian church in sepia, Syracuse, NY

Mural on the side of a building, downtown Syracuse, NY

Closeup of the mural, downtown Syracuse, NY

If you take a close look at the above two murals, they remind you of something, don’t they?  They’re painted in black and white on the side of a very non-descript building a few blocks from where I work.  Not the best part of town to be getting out in the middle of the street and taking photos, but I just found it so interesting.

What do you think?

Next week, red, white or red & white!

Until then… TTFN!    Tamara Eckstadt ~
