Colors of Your World: A Photo Assignment ~

I just now heard about Karma’s photo assignment, and it’s due in less than an hour.  I need to pay more attention!  Here’s what Karma says:  “Choose a color that you are drawn to. Post at least 3 photos (can be more if you like!) that feature this color in some way. Tell me what it is that draws you to this color. If you’d like, take it a step further and do a little research like Joanne did and find out some of the psychology of your chosen color.”

Well, considering I’m all about color, I couldn’t pass this up, even if there was less than an hour to get it in under the wire!  My favorite color is, and always has been, purple.  I think some of it stems from my childhood when I was in love with the flavor grape.  Add to that the fact that I was pretty much brought up with lilacs in and around my house when I was at a child.  The grape flavor and the scent of lilacs has deeply imprinted purple into my psyche.

The Color Psychology of Purple

    • Purple is the symbol of royalty and wealth.

    • Purple also represents wisdom and spirituality.

  • Purple does not often occur in nature, it can sometimes appear exotic or artificial.

Well, I don’t know if the “psychology” fits me, but I sure could go for a grape popsicle about now!

Hope you enjoyed my visit with purple!  Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to come again!

Until next time, TTFN ~ Tamara

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Red, White or Red & White ~

I’ve always had a “thing” for horses, adoring them and wanting to have my own since I was old enough to know what they were.  In my teens, I once saw the performance of the world famous Lippizaner stallions on t.v. and was captured!  Many years later, when my husband’s sweet aunt passed away, we were fortunate enough to receive a gorgeous statue of a Lippizaner stallion and a book that tells the “tail” about them.  I’m not sure of the origins of this statue, but I adore it.

My husband bought me red roses for Valentine’s Day, and I made him Valentine’s heart cookies (red & white).

Last, but not least, is a splash of red and white in this photo originally taken last weekend and posted in my “Waterfall Wanderlust” post.  I just thought it fit the subject matter well enough to repost.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Water ~

This is Part 2 of Cee’s 5-Week Chinese Elements Challenge.  This week the focus is on “water”.  These are my contributions:

View from the Lanai

View from the Lanai

My husband and I took a week and went to Honolulu, Hawaii, for our 1st wedding anniversary back in 1999.  This photo was taken from our lanai overlooking Waikiki Beach (taken with a Kodak 110 film camera!).  I can still feel the warmth of the sun and remember the cool nights watching the moon & stars as we sipped Blue Hawaiian drinks and shared a chocolate volcano brownie.

In 2001 I had an opportunity to fly to Anchorage, Alaska, for a week’s stay with my daughter and son-in-law.  This photo captures both water and ice/snow from the mountains in the background.  It was Thanksgiving time when I visited, and icy cold!  But the sightseeing drive from Anchorage down to the coastal Seward, Alaska, was invigorating!

A gorgeous, serene pond sits in the center of a beautiful "strip" mall.

This final submission was snapped in Charlotte, North Carolina, during their spring blossom time.  I took a trip down with my sister-in-law for a few days and she enjoyed taking me sightseeing for photo ops.  As soon as I saw this sweet little pond near a strip mall, I was taken, and got several photos from different locations/angles.  Even the resident green heron didn’t mind me getting him in on the action!

I’m an absolute idiot for water ~ fresh, salt or even frozen!  Thanks for this challenge, Cee!

Cee’s Challenge: Reds and Greens

This week Cee has challenged us with the colors of red and green in any combination: red, green or red AND green.  Being currently stuck in my office until after dark, I chose to pick a couple of items in my surroundings that fit the category.

I work in EMS (Emergency Medical Services), and kind of collect toy EMS trucks and ambulances.  These are three I have on display in my hutch in my office.  Check out Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge by clicking on the logo below.
