Cee’s Share Your World 2013: Week 11 ~

If you could go back and talk to yourself at age 18 what advice would you give yourself? Or if you are younger than 25 what words of wisdom would you like to tell yourself at age 40?  By the time I was 18 it was already too late.  At 14 I would’ve said “Don’t be in such a hurry to grow up and move away from home.  There’s plenty of time and you’ve got the world ahead of you.  Slow down!”

What is your favorite TV show that is currently on TV?  There are two that I actually stop to watch:  Wheel of Fortune and The Good Wife.  Anything else is just banter, white noise.

Jello or Pudding? And what is your favorite flavor?  Mmmmm, pudding… gotta be chocolate.  And I really like the stuff you have to cook rather than prefab.  Warm chocolate pudding, nothing better.

What is your favorite flower?  Lilacs.  I grew up with many different trees and have continued that tradition around my own home.  Love the smell and the colors.

Till next time, thanks Cee!   TTFN!

Cee’s Share Your World 2013: Week 9 ~

Cee’s questions for this week are:

How do you write: computer, longhand or other?   In today’s world, I do most of my writing by computer ~ but I prefer to write longhand and do so every chance I get.  I have been told I have wonderful handwriting.  Indeed, I began “practicing” my handwriting in 6th grade, and it does tend to be impressive.  (pats self on back!)

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?  Any sport related to horseback riding.  I used to ride when I was in school, and owned horses.  They are an amazing animal, and I bonded with mine as many do with dogs and cats.  I think I’d like to ride in the Olympics, or any type of show jumping.

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?   Quilting is my current love.  Not only does it allow me to release my creativity in endless ways, but also to make others happy with my creations.  What could be better than that?

What subject was your favorite in all of your schooling? Why?  Well, my entire high school years were devoted to “business”, as I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I graduated.  All of the many classes I took in relation to my degree are my favorites ~ I cannot pick just one, as they encompassed each other.  Typing and Shorthand were my absolute favorites.  I also had courses like Accounting, Business Math, Economics, Office Procedures and others.  One other “honorable mention” I want to put out there, because I’ve seen a couple other bloggers mention it, is that I loved English ~ because I am a grammar, spelling, punctuation obesessive/compulsive.

P.S ~ After almost 35 years of being out of school, I can still take Shorthand at about 120 wpm, and type around 130 wpm.  I do have occasion to use my Shorthand, and I type verbatim business meetings on a regular basis and then transcribe them.  Now THAT’s fast!

Thanks Cee!

Cee’s Share Your World: Week 8 ~

What are Cee’s insightful questions this week?

What is your favorite day of the week?    That would have to be Monday… my day off.  I work (4) 10-hour days and have Mondays off.  What’s great about it is, if there’s a holiday that falls on a Monday, I get to have another day off.  Do you know how many holidays fall on Monday???  A LOT!

Have you ever had a reoccurring dream? What was it?   I have two recurring dreams:  one is that I can fly (although I am deathly afraid of heights).  The other is always about trucks chasing me ~ specifically 18 wheelers or cement mixers or large industrial trucks.  Terrifying!

Have you ever been drunk?  Absolutely.  Not saying I’m proud of it, but I drank a lot in high school, and then again in the late 80’s early 90’s.  I was admittedly irresponsible, and I drank specifically to get drunk.  Nowadays, a glass of wine can do me in.

Out of your five senses (touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing) which is your favorite?   This is truly a tough question.  Probably touch is my favorite.  My husband and I reconnect frequently by touch:  holding hands, kisses, touch on the face, fingers through hair, massages etc.   I guess you could say we can’t keep our hands off each other ~ but in a nice, romantic way.  It’s in this way that we stay close and communicate silently.  It’s also a way of communication with our family, our friends, even our pets.  Something very special for us.  My favorite!

Until next week, thanks Cee!  TTFN ~ Tamara Eckstadt

Cee’s Share Your World: Week 7 ~

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you…   Here’s Cee’s Share Your World Week 7’s Questions:

Your favorite place within two hours of your home?  Probably any freshwater lake.  Fair Haven Beach on Lake Ontario is one of my faves in the summer.  During the fall, my favorite place is anywhere the leaves are peaking within 2 hrs of my home ~ north, east, south or west ~ it’s all good!  In the winter, I like to be near snowy, ice-covered waterfalls.

Rushing waters in Throop, NY (pronounced ("Troop")

What is your favorite TV show or movie of all time (for example can watch it over and over again and quote lines from it)?  Favorite t.v. show would have to be “Wheel of Fortune” !!  LOL!  There’s also a quilting show (“Quilt in a Day”) that I watch only on Saturday afternoons.  Favorite movie would have to be the most current Star Trek movie… yep, I own it and can recite almost every scene.  But I can do that with almost every Star Trek movie and much of the series (old and new).

Where do you eat breakfast?  Weekdays I manage to wolf down a bowl of Cheerios before going to work, usually.  If not, I eat at work… there’s a deli down the hall that opens up with breakfasts at 7:30 a.m.  Perfect!  On weekends, the hubby and I usually have a more leisurely breakfast consisting of one or two courses.  The first Sunday of each month, we try to drive to a local Legion for their awesome breakfast that benefits local kids with educational funds.

What is your most favorite smell/scent?  That would have to be lilacs.  Growing up, our house was surrounded by lilac trees that bloomed profusely each spring and summer.  Now that I own my own piece of this earth, I’ve done my part in planting lilac trees around my house.  I’ve planted several particularly right in front of my kitchen window so I can smell the lilacs in the spring as the scent wafts through the entire house (when I leave the window open).  Sometimes I’ll go out in the morning and just stand amidst the group of 10 trees and enjoy the smell, close my eyes and remember what it was like growing up.

Until next week, TTFN!
