Cruise on Into It ~

Thursday nights they have a “Cruise In” night at the B’ville Diner in my hometown of Baldwinsville, NY.  Al and I went tonight not only for the photo op, but the band (Code Red) and the food & drinks from the locally-famous B’ville Diner, as well as potentially meeting up with people I know.  So I got out of work an hour early to get a head start on what I knew would be a mass of cars and people in that small-ish town, and sure enough, it was crowded!  Al rode his 1967 Royal Enfield Interceptor motorcycle from home so he fit right in to to “oldies” motif.   Don’t even expect me to be able to tell you what each car “is” etc.  I’m not that savvy about oldies ~ cars anyways.

As I was cruising around the classic cars parked all over the place, I discovered that what I really like to photograph are the FRONTS and/or just the GRILLS of the cars.  Weird.  I ended up with over 100 photos.  Here are a few from the collection.  Enjoy!  (click on photo to enlarge)

I included only the one photo of the guitar player from the band because this is someone we actually know through a friend.  But the band was pretty good!  You can check them out at Code Red Rox.  They play oldies from the 60’s to the 80’s mostly.  Great for a Cruise In!

Photo: Cruise on over to the B'ville Diner this and every Thursday night thru September for B'ville Diner's Classic Car Cruisin' Event starting at 6pm. Enjoy Classic Cars on display, music, games, door prizes and more!! This week...DJ playing your favorite hits and our "Throw the Piston" game. Also fun slide and bouncy house for the kids to enjoy!! See you at the Diner!!

All in all it was a pretty good time, and the weather, though a little windy, was pretty darn perfect for a change!  If you’re local, you should check this out next week, or whatever Thursday you’ve got available.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time, TTFN ~ Tamara

Only Ontario ~

Al and I spent last Saturday up to Rudy’s on the shores of the Great Lake Ontario.  We’re hosting our motorcycle club’s 3rd annual Eurobike Ride In there this coming Saturday (the day after tomorrow), and we drove up to scope the place out as we do each year beforehand.  This year, Jason (of Rudy’s) is having us put our bikes across the street from the restaurant, where there is considerably more room, a nice grassy area and picnic tables with ample trash containers.  I predict this will be good.  While there, I took some photos of the lake that I wanted to share.   Enjoy!  (Click on a pic to enlarge)

If you want to see the most British and European motorcycles you’ll ever see together in this area, come up to Rudy’s in Oswego this coming Saturday.

Until next time, TTFN ~ Tamara

Cee’s Challenge ~ Things That Make You Happy!

I have a myriad of photos of things that make me happy!  I’ll share some of the most special ~

Lauren "the fish" at our 2010 Family Reunion

Lauren “the fish” at our 2010 Family Reunion

My great-niece, Lauren, comes up from underwater in our pool during our first family reunion at my house in Summer 2010.  Thoughts of the entire week-long reunion continue to make me happy two years later.  We entertained some 60 close and extended family members:  brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles.  The weather was warm and so was the pool!

Another fave thing that makes me smile are motorcycles.  Not just your “average” Harley… my husband and I are Triumph/British motorcycle enthusiasts.  He owns (4) different motorcycles, and I’m currently in between bikes.  Yes, I have my license ~ you won’t catch me sitting behind some guy, I gotta be in charge.

This yellow Triumph, though not one of ours, belongs to a member of our British Motorcycle Club of CNY, of which my husband is President.  It was on display at this year’s 2012 Euro Bike Ride-In held at Rudy’s on Lake Ontario in Oswego, NY.

My husband and I have (7) grandchildren.  Every one of them is a delight and make us both happy!  This pic of (now 4 yr old) Liam was taken when he was just two weeks old.  Our grandchildren are the light of our lives.

Motorcycle Mayhem ~

On Saturday, May 19,2012, our motorcycle club hosted the second annual Eurobike Ride-In at Rudy’s Lakeside Restaurant on the shores of Lake Ontario in Oswego, New York.  Our club, the British Motorcycle Club of Central New York, has been in existence since 2001, and in 2007 my husband, Al Eckstadt, took over as President when Ron Salgado stepped down.  The club has participated in some rides, some shows and even promoted/organized some fundraiser rides to benefit local charities.

As you could guess, the club consists of British motorcycles, their owners, people who appreciate the British bike and wannabe’s.  Not wanting to appear “snobbish”, we also have many friends who ride European bikes of all types, and even a couple of Harley friends (but we don’t hold that against them!).  There is, however, something special about getting a bunch of  British and/or European motorcycles together and going out for a ride that really turns heads and gets fingers pointing.  Perhaps it’s the fact that they’re relatively uncommon in our Central New York area.

This was the first year that I’ve really gotten into photography, so I decided to really ratchet it up at our event.  I know, and keep in mind, that I’m barely a novice at this and I don’t have a camera with all the “bells and whistles”, but I have fun and I like to share my perspective in hopes that my photos will be enjoyed by other enthusiasts.

A few of the more than 80+ British motorcycles that attended Eurobike 2012.

Chrome and yellow! Mmmmm, yes, I like this one!

Full shot of yellow w/chrome pipes.

A lot of our friends ride/drive older bikes, as suggested by this attendee’s tee shirt.

It’s really all about COLOR for me!

For some, it’s all about being en Vogue.

Nice BMW decked out with all the trimmings.

This leaves little doubt as to who owns THIS bike! (Brett Simpson’s Thruxton)

Purple Haze! Not every bike was British, or even European! But everyone was welcome!

Another view of this purple beauty (I told you “it’s all about the color!”)

Club President’s (and my husband) 1969 Triumph Bonneville.

How about this BSA Rocket 3?

Once you “go Commando” you never go back!

Sweet Ducati!

Norton anyone?

At the end of the event, it was estimated that over 100 motorcycles “made the scene” and enjoyed door prizes and discounts on Rudy’s food, among other things.  BMC CNY holds this event yearly at Rudy’s in Oswego, so look for us in 2013.  BMC CNY also attends several other events in Central New York, as well as Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.  Check out their website at www.bmccny.org, and they’re also on Facebook.
