Cee’s Share Your World 2013: Week 19 ~

On a vacation what you would require in any place that you would stay?  (Question came from Wanderings of an Elusive Mind Good one, Carol (Wanderings of an Elusive Mind)!  Having just stayed in Pennsylvania for three  nights in a mediocre hotel, lots of things come to mind.  But there is a difference between what I would require (want) and what I really need.  I have lots of wants, but when beggars can’t be choosers, all I can say I really need is quiet.  I need silence for peace of mind and to gather my thoughts, and eventually for sleep.  (I’ll be blogging about our PA accommodations shortly, including photos!)

If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels?  I would prefer a short story or a “longer” story.  I’d be good at writing romance novels, too.  Many friends, family and people who know me say I should write an autobiography.  Perhaps, one day.

What’s your favorite song of the moment?  That would be “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath  (a Christian rock tune).  I like many, many different types of music.  It’s easier for me to say what I don’t like:  Country and Rap.

If you were to buy a new house/apartment what is the top items on your wish list?  Ooooh, you’re kidding!  That’s a tough one!  It would have to be a house, and I would need acreage.  The house, itself, yes… windows!  Preferably double-hung for easier cleaning.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Cee!  Looking forward to next week’s queries!  Until then, TTFN ~ Tamara

Cee’s Share Your World 2013: Week 9 ~

Cee’s questions for this week are:

How do you write: computer, longhand or other?   In today’s world, I do most of my writing by computer ~ but I prefer to write longhand and do so every chance I get.  I have been told I have wonderful handwriting.  Indeed, I began “practicing” my handwriting in 6th grade, and it does tend to be impressive.  (pats self on back!)

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?  Any sport related to horseback riding.  I used to ride when I was in school, and owned horses.  They are an amazing animal, and I bonded with mine as many do with dogs and cats.  I think I’d like to ride in the Olympics, or any type of show jumping.

If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?   Quilting is my current love.  Not only does it allow me to release my creativity in endless ways, but also to make others happy with my creations.  What could be better than that?

What subject was your favorite in all of your schooling? Why?  Well, my entire high school years were devoted to “business”, as I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I graduated.  All of the many classes I took in relation to my degree are my favorites ~ I cannot pick just one, as they encompassed each other.  Typing and Shorthand were my absolute favorites.  I also had courses like Accounting, Business Math, Economics, Office Procedures and others.  One other “honorable mention” I want to put out there, because I’ve seen a couple other bloggers mention it, is that I loved English ~ because I am a grammar, spelling, punctuation obesessive/compulsive.

P.S ~ After almost 35 years of being out of school, I can still take Shorthand at about 120 wpm, and type around 130 wpm.  I do have occasion to use my Shorthand, and I type verbatim business meetings on a regular basis and then transcribe them.  Now THAT’s fast!

Thanks Cee!

Cee’s Share Your World: Week 7 ~

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you…   Here’s Cee’s Share Your World Week 7’s Questions:

Your favorite place within two hours of your home?  Probably any freshwater lake.  Fair Haven Beach on Lake Ontario is one of my faves in the summer.  During the fall, my favorite place is anywhere the leaves are peaking within 2 hrs of my home ~ north, east, south or west ~ it’s all good!  In the winter, I like to be near snowy, ice-covered waterfalls.

Rushing waters in Throop, NY (pronounced ("Troop")

What is your favorite TV show or movie of all time (for example can watch it over and over again and quote lines from it)?  Favorite t.v. show would have to be “Wheel of Fortune” !!  LOL!  There’s also a quilting show (“Quilt in a Day”) that I watch only on Saturday afternoons.  Favorite movie would have to be the most current Star Trek movie… yep, I own it and can recite almost every scene.  But I can do that with almost every Star Trek movie and much of the series (old and new).

Where do you eat breakfast?  Weekdays I manage to wolf down a bowl of Cheerios before going to work, usually.  If not, I eat at work… there’s a deli down the hall that opens up with breakfasts at 7:30 a.m.  Perfect!  On weekends, the hubby and I usually have a more leisurely breakfast consisting of one or two courses.  The first Sunday of each month, we try to drive to a local Legion for their awesome breakfast that benefits local kids with educational funds.

What is your most favorite smell/scent?  That would have to be lilacs.  Growing up, our house was surrounded by lilac trees that bloomed profusely each spring and summer.  Now that I own my own piece of this earth, I’ve done my part in planting lilac trees around my house.  I’ve planted several particularly right in front of my kitchen window so I can smell the lilacs in the spring as the scent wafts through the entire house (when I leave the window open).  Sometimes I’ll go out in the morning and just stand amidst the group of 10 trees and enjoy the smell, close my eyes and remember what it was like growing up.

Until next week, TTFN!

Cee’s Share Your World: Week 6 ~

Six weeks into the New Year and Cee’s at it again with her Share Your World questions:

If you given $22 million tax free dollars, what is the first thing you would do?  I would be very, very quiet.  We always are hearing about lottery winners that suddenly get inundated with “relatives” looking for money.  Not that I wouldn’t want to share, but I would need some thought-processing time to decide who, what, where, when and why.  Then I would need an attorney and an accountant – not necessarily in that order.

Where were you born?  Syracuse, New York, USA

Can you change a car tire?  Theoretically, I can.  I was taught how to, but I’ve never had the opportunity to have to ~ and for that I am blessed!

What is your favorite part of the town/city you live in.  And what Country do you live?  Double whammy!  I live in Jordan, New York, USA.  Well, I actually live a couple of miles outside the village of Jordan, on a three acre plot of land with enough distance between neighbors to keep us good neighbors.  My favorite part of where I live?  Probably the fact that we own our own property ~ no mortgage ~ well, except for having to pay ridiculous taxes.  There’s a lot to be said about owning your own little piece of the rock.  There’s a sense of security there that I need.  Of course, nothing is forever except death and taxes.

Till next time … TTFN.

Cee’s Share Your World 2013: Week 5 ~

Some things from Cee to ponder this week …

Are you a morning or night person?  I am def a morning person!  I’m good to go first thing, then fizzle out around 4 pm.  Def in bed by 9:00-10:00 pm.  I guess that could be thought of as a drawback of being an a.m. person.  I can’t remember the last time (other than New Year’s) that I was “out” past 8 pm.

What is your preferred hot drink: coffee, tea, water or other?  Ok, none of the above for sure.  I guess my next best hot drink would be hot chocolate.  How could you go wrong with that?!  All the better with a little Irish Cream… just a bit, and/or maybe some Kahlua.  But I digress…

What was your favorite toy as a child  . . .  and now?  My favorite childhood toy was a plastic typewriter I got when I was around 10… until my older sister got a newer, nicer electric typewriter, then THAT became my favorite toy.  I guess it was a foreshadowing of what I would eventually become ~ a speedy typist!  My favorite toy now is (like Cee) my camera and my computer.  I’m finding the combination of the two is just fascinating and delightful when used in conjunction with each other.

If you had a choice which would be your preference salt water beaches, fresh water lakes, hot tub, ski resort or desert?  I absolutely thrive in fresh water lakes, but am drawn to the ocean beaches of the east coast.  I think I like swimming in fresh water, but admire salt water so much!  I’m pretty sure I’m more afraid of what’s under salt water moreso than fresh.  No interest in a hot tub (germ frappe), ski resort (got one in my own back yard!) or desert (too hot/dry).  Leave me alone in a quiet, remote Adirondack lake with maybe a canoe/paddles on a sunny day surrounded by evergreens ~ I won’t come back!

Thanks, Cee!  Another week of thoughtful moments!
